The challenge

In 2006, online shipping was limited by manual bookings, fragmented carrier systems and low automation. The platform needed to quote, book and manage shipments at scale across multiple providers.

  • Real-time courier comparisons for consumer and business users
  • Automated bookings into different carrier protocols and legacy systems
  • Label generation, shipment documents and tracking updates
  • Reliable high-volume transaction processing

The solution

Chris Buckle architected and built the full technical infrastructure powering Parcel Monkey’s booking engine and operations workflow.

  • Carrier integrations with DHL, FedEx, CityLink and HDNL (later Yodel)
  • Real-time quotation engine using parcel dimensions, weight and destination
  • End-to-end booking automation from quote to tracking
  • Scalable platform architecture with secure payment and account workflows

Outcome and capability demonstrated

By March 2010, Parcel Monkey reached £2 million annual turnover with thousands of shipments processed through fully automated courier integrations.

This project demonstrates the delivery strengths Warsash Software Engineering brings to logistics, e-commerce and marketplace products: complex third-party integrations, workflow automation and dependable high-volume transaction platforms.
